Ian Bremmer is founder and president of Eurasia Group, a New York based consulting firm that studies global political risk. He says the today’s biggest threat comes from rogue actors. By that, he means of course leaders with unchecked power, like Russia’s Vladimir Putin or North Korea’s Kim Jong-un. But he also includes in that category the heads of massive institutions like Meta or Twitter that operate with some level of sovereignty outside the purview of governments. Of leaders like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, he says, “I think that the disruptive implications [for] good and for bad are also unprecedented.”
